Overview:The Golden Needles Quilt Quild was founded in 1987 in Conroe, Texas. With a mix of members from beginner to advanced, including my mom.
The quilts for veterans are distributed every November at Candy Cane Park. The guild members lay out about 60 quilts on tables and then call up the veterans they wish to honor. Each hero picks out a quilt to take home. Since 2012, Golden Needles has donated 300 quilts to veterans in Montgomery County. |
Details:After attending their veterans appreciation event, I contacted our local news with photos and a brief write-up of this spectacular event. As a result, the local newspaper, The Courier of Montgomery County interviewed the guild for the first time ever and they graced the front page with a beautiful photo of my mom, a dear veteran, and his new quilt of valor.
